This isnt new enough for me to use so through troubleshooting Ive removed them and tried reinstalling the new ones several times. Over the few days of this problem Windows has managed to install Crimson Drivers but an out dated driver 17.1.1. When checking device manager it shows that there is 2 display adapters, one for the APU and sometimes the RX 480. So Im getting the error while installing the new drivers for my RX 480 "Error 182" which is along the lines of the software cant detect the dGPU. So this is just all the mess of info Ive been sending to AMD to try to get help. The drivers provided by Asus are pretty much the same as AMD's but just older. I started out using the Asus chipset drivers but ultimately switched over to the ones provided by AMD. However, I don't want to lose performance.ĭoes anyone know anything about this? I would really like to hear from the AMD rep on here. AMD just released a new chipset driver and I'm tempted to download and install it. However, they gave no explanation further than that. When I was chatting with Asus support about it they said, paraphrasing, "to get the best performance use the Asus provided chipset driver". However, I'm guessing that there is a legitimate reason to use the Asus one. AMD obviously updates the chipset driver all the time and releases it on their website. It was using a 6+ months old one before that.

Asus finally recently updated the chipset driver for my motherboard which is the Crosshair VI Extreme. This is something I have wondered for many years and have never been able to get a true answer about.
